This blog is a place for the letters that Corporal Max Blazzard wrote home to his family during his service in WWII, and a few that they wrote to him.

V-MAIL

Dear Mother and all,

Hello there, how are you all? I guess you were wondering if I was ever going to write you again. I got a letter from Rosalie and one from Floyd Morris plus two from you the day I left. I was sure tickled to get them. I doubt if you can read this at all. I don’t like V Mail at all, but was in a hurry to write. I am in England someplace and like it alright. I have seen some of the most beautiful country in the last few days that I have ever seen in my life. The trip was really worth the money and I enjoyed it all. I didn’t get seasick at all, but some of the boys sure did feed the fish. Ha. We lost an hour most every day on the way over. There are eight hours – I figure - differences between here and Arizona. We are ahead of you, I can’t get used to this dammed English money, fog, and the people here. I get a big kick out of it all though and wouldn’t have missed it for anything. We are paid in English money. Notice that ma A.P.O. number has changed. Mama will you try to send me some 6 cent mail stamps. I have got to write Rosalie a line. I’ll write again tomorrow I have lots to say when I have more time. Don’t worry a bit about me Mama bye.

Love to all –

Your son,

Max
