This blog is a place for the letters that Corporal Max Blazzard wrote home to his family during his service in WWII, and a few that they wrote to him.

France
Dear Mother, Dad, & Girls:

I have finally got around to answering the two letters that I got from you yesterday. I fooled around and didn’t write to any one yesterday.

It has been hot here lately too but it is getting lots cooler at nights. I had another letter from Kenneth yesterday and one from a girl from Phoenix that I graduated with. Rosalie tells me that Bertie May Hagan got married the other day to a real nice kid and they were a swell couple. Lots of those young kids of Duncan are getting married – the nuts!

I’m sure glad that you got to go and did go to Tucson the other day Mama. Getting out and away from home is good for you and I wished you could do it more often. Sometime when I get back, we’ll have to try to get a better car then you can go more then. I have seen two of those big French busses over here, but there isn’t hardly any civilian cars, just bicycles. I hope you got to see Norman and Hazel while you were there, I just wished that you would go to Louisiana with them next month. You would enjoy yourself so much.

Here is a German coin Dad, I don’t know what it amounts to in our money, but it makes a good souvenir. This is one of the coins that the Nazis put out.

Everything is normal and going on the same here and there isn’t much to write about. I guess your melons are ripe good by now and won’t be too long before your pears do to.

You girls be good in school tomorrow and don’t be getting a lickin the first day. I’ve got three other letters to answer dammit.

Love to all,
Your son,
Max
