This blog is a place for the letters that Corporal Max Blazzard wrote home to his family during his service in WWII, and a few that they wrote to him.

December 14, 1944

December 14, 1944
Dear Mother, Dad, & Girls,

Well I’m still hanging around taking it easy. How are you all – all well I hope?

Do you remember were the English Airborne Army made the landing in Holland? Here is a little souvenir of that town. I wasn’t there now a girl had it on her bracelet and gave it to me.

I didn’t tell you that I went through the out skirts of Paris did I? We were close enough to see the city and the big towers. Oh yes I got to see Brussels to. While I’m at it I may as well tell you that I’m in Germany now – too – the fatherland – ha – you would find out sooner or later. I wasn’t going to tell you. Nothing to worry about though Mama. I’m no worse off than I was in France. Say I’m really getting around. Time I go to China and Japan. I’ll have just about see the world. I’ll close for tonight.
Love to all,
Max
