This blog is a place for the letters that Corporal Max Blazzard wrote home to his family during his service in WWII, and a few that they wrote to him.

June 2, 1944

June 2, 1944

 Dear Mother & all,

I don’t have much to write about tonight I got a new A.P.O number again today. Ha. I guess you have just got my last new one by now. I get disgusted with them changing so much too, but you know the army. The new number is A.P.O 403.

I put in my usual time on duty today then sawed logs the rest of the afternoon. I really get my share of sleep in over here. I hated to get up at 5:30 this morning though, that is always the best part of the nights sleep. It reminds me of at home when Dad would yell “Max” several times. Now in the morning I can sleep in all morning if I like, but I usually get up for a good hot breakfast at seven then hit the hay again if I still feel tired and I usually do. Ha. You have to take into consideration Dad, that I am still a growing boy.

I just got out of the show. It was good, but I had seen it before. I seen most of the shows back in Texas, and LA. We have a nice lounge room here to write, a radio, nice easy chairs, and we can by sandwiches and coffee once in a while cokes from the red cross in the evenings. I spend lots of time here loafing and enjoying the radio – as much as I fool with one. Did I tell you that I am with the (------censored-------)? Don’t jump to conclusions, but maybe that is why I am getting off so easy. I am really glad that I didn’t make that air corps test when I tried to in Texas now or I would have landed in the infantry like Evan R. and John J. Well I’ve got to stop and write Rosalie a line or she’ll fix me for good. Ha.

 Love to all,

Your son,
Max
